The scenic drive around the reservoir twinned with a stop for a coffee at the start, a walk around the village of Torremendo, the hamlet of Rebate or the town of San Miguel de Salinas makes for a great morning or afternoon out.

The man made reservoir known as the Embalse de la Pedrera was finished in 1983 after the construction of a 716m long, 60m high and 9m thick dam and now supplies water for agricultural and municipal use. It is always a delight to drive around as it offers a constantly changing vista depending on the weather conditions, time of day and how full of water it is. You can pack a picnic and find a place to sit and admire the views over the reservoir. Although there are no official cycling paths, if you are feeling fit you can easily cycle all the way around on the road!

Torremendo is a small village situated close to the shores of the Embalse de la Pedrera reservoir. It consists of only a few streets centred around the traditional church square. The neighbouring hamlet of Rebate is even smaller and has a tiny chapel within the grounds of the Rebate restaurant. The Castle of Condesa stands at the very end of the route, a recently refurbished Moorish castle.
