Onil Moors and Christians Fiesta
The Moors and Christians will be marching in Onil from the 22nd April to the 1st May 2023. The fiesta is held in honour of the Patron Saint the Virgen de la Salud and includes several parades, acts of war, embasseys and of course a firework display.
Saturda 22nd April
19:00 Opening Speeches for the fiesta in the Plaza Mayor followed by a parade by the pipe and drum band through the streets of the town.
22:00 Parade and rockets, followed by the traditional crema or burning of the Fogueres of which there will be more than 200 fires.
Sunday 23rd April
11:00 Entrance Parade Mare de Déu from Calle Portal, through the old town finishing at the Parroquia de Santiago Apóstol.
20:00 Flower Offering Parade. Route: Avd. Constitución, plaza Mayor, Cervantes, Virgen de la Salud, Saúco, Plaza del Carmen finishing at the Placeta de la Iglesia.

08:00 Diana, early morning parade and ringing of the church bells.
12:00 Gathering in the Plaza del Carmen for the start of the guerrilla (war) and the parade with the blunderbuss to the Plaza Mayor for the traditional 'Ballà De Les Banderes'.

19:00 The Embajada (embassy) in front of the Palacio-Fortaleza del Marqués de dos Aguas.
Sunday 30th April
08:00 Diana, early morning parade and ringing of the church bells.
12:00 Gathering in the Plaza del Carmen for the parade with the blunderbuss to the Plaza Mayor, for the traditional voting of next years Capitans and the Ballà De Les Banderes.
18:00 Grand Entrance Parade of the Moors followed by the Christians from Avda. de la Constitución to the Plaza del Carmen.

Monday 1st May
08:00 Diana, early morning parade and ringing of the church bells.
12:00 Gathering in the Plaza del Carmen for the parade with the blunderbuss to the Plaza Mayor, for the traditional Volta de Capitans 2014 and the Ballà De Les Banderes.
16:30 Guerrilla (war) with the firing of the blunderbuss in Avda. de la Constitución, C/ Cervantes and C/ San Antonio.
17:15 Embajada (embassy) in front of the Palacio-Fortaleza del Marqués de dos Aguas.

20:00 Procession of the Virgen de la Salud to the Portal and then onto the Ermita, followed by the spectacular firework display.
