Almoradi Moors and Christians Fiesta
There is a packed programme of events for the Moors and the Christians Fiesta in Almoradi from the 20th to the 30th July 2023. The fiesta celebrates not only two local saints; St. Addón and St. Senén, but also the history of the area. From 700AD the Moors invaded and occupied and reigned for almost 400 years. These historic events are remembered and re-enacted during this fiesta. The full programme is in the brochure below in English on page 11, and the highlights are:
Thursday 20th July
22:00 Switching on of the Fiesta lights in the Fiesta Grounds and the adjacent streets.
Friday 21st July
21:30 Proclamation of the Fiesta Queens in the Plaza de la Constitución.
Saturday 22nd July
21:30 Parade by the Bando Huertano. Route: C/ Comunidad Valenciana, C/ Tomás, Capdepón, Plaza Constitución and C/Mayor.
22.30 Inauguration of the Museum of Peña Huertana, on C/ La Reina. Normal opening hours: 23rd, 24th & 25th July 12:00-14:00 and 20:00-23:00.
Wedneday 26th July
22.15 Retreta Parade with all of the Moors and Christians from Calle Valencia to the Teatro Cortés
Thursday 27th July
20:00 Entrance Parade of the Moors and Christians from Calle Mayor to the Plaza de la Constitución.
21:30 Presentation of the Moors and Christians Dignatories in the Plaza de la Constitución.
22:45 Embassy of the Moors and Castle Battle.
23.45 Partying at the Kabilas and Cuartelillos.
Friday 28th July
08:00 Desperta, early morning parade by the Moors and Christians from the castle door.
20:30 Parade of the music bands from the Teatro Cortes to Calle Valencia.
21:30 Parade of the Moors from Calle Valencia.
Saturday 29th July
